Thanksgiving

“And also that we may then unite in most humbly offering our prayers and supplications to the great Lord and Ruler of Nations and beseech Him to pardon our national and other transgressions; to enable us all, whether in public or private stations, to perform our several and relative duties properly and punctually; to render our National Government a blessing to all the people by constantly being a Government of wise, just, and constitutional laws, discreetly and faithfully executed and obeyed…” - George Washington’s Thanksgiving Proclamation, 1789.

“And I recommend to them that while offering up the ascriptions justly due to Him for such singular deliverances and blessings, they do also, with humble penitence for our national perverseness and disobedience, commend to His tender care all those who have become widows, orphans, mourners or sufferers in the lamentable civil strife in which we are unavoidably engaged, and fervently implore the interposition of the Almighty Hand to heal the wounds of the nation and to restore it as soon as may be consistent with the Divine purposes to the full enjoyment of peace, harmony, tranquility and Union.” - Abraham Lincoln’s Thanksgiving Proclamation, 1863.

ear piercing

Reagan got her ears pierced today! she was so brave. she decided today was the day after payton was invited to a painting party at the mall and she was upset she wasn't going to it. we were just walking around the mall and she saw the ear piercing place and said, "mommy, today I want my ears pierced. For my birthday."
She has been going back and forth about getting her ears pierced for about a year now and hasn't been reay to do it yet, so today was the day she made up her mind.

The picture above was the after pic. Her eyes were red but she didn't cry, just teared up and didn't talk for a few minutes.
This was before, she was excited but a little nervous.
Good thing Jimmy was there to hold her hand.
One ear done, one to go. This was NOT the highlight of the experience.

Two ears done and still, nothing to smile about. I wonder if she is thinking, "This isn't all it's cracked up to be."

But she made it... it took about 15 minutes to see a smile after this, but seeing Santa made it all better... and the thought of wearing earrings for her birthday and Christmas!

Go Rea Rea!

Halloween Pictures

we had a class party for the 6th graders.

Need I mention I CANNOT BELIEVE MY CHILD IS IN SIXTH GRADE!!! ?

and yes, half these children are taller than me. ha.

they played games but only because it involved food.

the fairy liked it though.

as did the dinosaur. roar!

i think this is an indication of an OD on sugar.

the pop corn race was a hit with the little ones too.

What happened to all the 6th graders?

Are they really too cool to play silly games at Halloween?

one day they will see you should never grow to old to play silly games.

and the final wrap up of the Halloween whirlwind was trick or treating. this is a cool house huh?

It was cold and windy for trick or treat and Rea succembed to be a bee again.

Here it is a week later and the candy is almost gone.

a nice surprise

i haven't had a chance to post the halloween pics yet, but yesterday when I arrived home from work I was greeted with a pleasant surprise.

these shades have been sitting in the corner since june when i painted the house. I attempted to install them myself but wasn't strong enough to get the screws into the wood. i have been 'patiently' waiting for them to magically appear in place. Now here they are in their rightful spot over the windows.

thank you jim and rea! great work!
